Friends of Schurig Center,

It is with great sadness I share that Schurig Center’s annual fundraising Gala will not be taking place on April 18 as planned. It is the wise choice to ensure everyone remains safe and healthy during this challenging time. Despite the gala’s cancellation, our mission has not ended. The Gala provides 25% of the funds Schurig Center needs to operate. The potential loss of these funds coupled with the loss of fee for on-site service revenue would be devastating to our programs, and could lead to reduction in service and possibly closure. But, we hope to minimize this situation with your help.

If you are safe and in a position to help, I hope you will consider supporting Schurig Center with a donation.

I recognize these are difficult times for all of us, but I wouldn’t be asking for your help if it wasn’t greatly needed. It is our goal to survive this 'shelter in place' time, helping survivors and their families cope not only now, but in the future when our community comes back together again. Our team is actively creating remote support and rehabilitative services to offer in the coming weeks and months, continuing to help anybody who needs us.

A gift at the same level as you would have given at the gala would be very much appreciated. But, please know gifts of any size will help Schurig Center raise the $250,000 that is now needed to weather this crisis and stay in operation.

Many people served by Schurig Center are among the most vulnerable in the community and will be heavily impacted by this crisis. As the strains of the pandemic begin to lift, Schurig Center will still remain the only place in our area providing rehabilitation, connection, and care for brain injury survivors. We anticipate the need for our services will be even greater as our already overburdened healthcare system continues to be focused on reacting to public health needs caused by COVID-19. With you by our side, I’m confident Schurig Center will be able to continue to provide critically-needed services for the Bay Area’s brain injury survivors and their families.

If you have already supported the gala with a purchase of tickets, sponsorship, or raffle tickets, THANK YOU. I hope you will consider allowing Schurig Center to convert your purchase to a cash donation. Staff members are currently in the process of reaching out to those who have made gifts in support of the gala. If you have questions or concerns, please contact us at (415) 461-6771 or info@schurigcenter.org.

We are all in this together and vulnerable right now. I believe that resilience, kindness, and community connection will help us weather this crisis together. Thank you for your support.

Take good care. I wish you and your loved ones good health.

With gratitude,

Patricia Gill, MS
